The church is open to visitors daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Some exceptions may occur due to reservations. Please note also that the church is closed on Midsummer Day.

  • € 9
  • € 6 (pensioners, students, unemployed)
  • € 2 (children from 7 to 15 years)
  • € 0 (young children and personal assistants)

Opening hours on winter season

The church will be closed between 1st September 2023 and 31rd May 2024.

On winter season, we are open only by reservation. Group visits may be arranged, if the visit is reserved at least two weeks in advance. The reservation has to be paid in advance. Reservations and more information: opas@petajavesi.fi.

Admission fees on winter season 1st September 2023 – 31rd May 2024

  • 1–10 persons: € 80 (including admission fees and the door opening fee).
  • More than 10 persons: Admission fee €6 per person and a door opening fee of € 20.

The winter season fees are paid in advance by invoice, and the invoicing fee is € 6.

Maximum fee for students groups of higher education is € 100 and for school groups € 30.

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Petäjävesi Old Church tells the story of the Finnish people’s everyday life over four centuries. Built by Central Finland’s land-owning peasants in 1763–65 with their masterful carving skills, the Old Church has been the site of the most profound moments of life. The Old Church is beloved by the residents of Petäjävesi, and it is visited by thousands of enchanted tourists every year.
